A protest placed by Mr. Plimsoll on the table of the House of Common's last night is pub lished. In it Mr. Plimsoll says : "I protest in the name of God against the delay' of the shipping bill, al though the bill itself is an atrocious Buame there is enough humanity and knowledge iu the House to change it into a Rood measure. The denoun cers present laws against breach of oontroct which leaves sailors, who have unknowingly agreed to sail injun seaworthy ships the alternative of the jail or death, and ooutiuiwa : I charge the government of wittingly or un wittingly playing into tho hands of the national murderers inside, aud outside the House to secure a continuance of the present murderous system. I do sire to unmask the villains who sit in tiiis Louse lit representative of more numerous but not greater villains out side. I demand that the bill be pro ceeded with, failing in this, I lay upon the Premier and his cuieagues the blood of all who perish next winter from preventible causes, and denounce against him and them the wrath of God." Vdinna, July 23. The strike of weavers at Brunn has ended, a com promise having been effected between the strikers and their employers. London, July 23. Rev. Dr. MoOosh, President of tue Princeton College, presided over the Presbyterian Con vention. He made a speech, in which he eloquently traced the progress of ideas iu favor of the re-union. Ho described his original suggestions at Philadelphia in regard to it, and the ordial reception of the scheme in America, which culminated in the suc cess of 1873, when a meeting of evan gelical alliance, such as was only pos sible in the Unitod States, was held. This led to conference between dis tinguished men, who declared the ao complinhmeut of the scheme to be the desire of their hearts. With regaid t ) the Constitution, he might say that council had agreed to take the decis ion of th.i reformed church. The ob jects of the alliance wore nettled. The counoil would consider questions of general interest to the community; seek the welfare of weak, oppressed churches; collect and distribute infor mation about the church, and enter tain all subjects connected with the work of evangelization. Resolutions favoring the alliance were unanimous ly passed, HEADQUARTERS. 1 MVS t iifcj tll-Li A WaiOAVlO-lUti INDIANS. Wasiuxgton, Julv 23.
